Yep they do go faulty. Unplug it for a day and see if the light stays off.

I know. At the time of posting that hadn't been determined and he was going to check.

The brake fluid is fine, but the serpentine belt is abandoning its workplace in strips. It is now about half width! Does the drama never end?
