    John, I'd check really carefully that it is indeed the rear main, they can get a lot of oil trapped just in front of the sandwich plate and look like they are leaking for a long time after doing a cam cover gasket.
    Also not a common leak point on the TD5, unless the thrust bearings are stuffed.

    some drill a small hole between sump and sandwich plate to let the trapped oil out.

    Thank you for that. Mine did have a cam cover leak a while back. I thought the oil would be gone by now. Have to say, I hope you are right.
