The spring clips also spread the tension better and more evenly around the hose.

Those T-bolt ones, they're the ones I thought of. But I have a bunch of the spring type, and I doubt they'll cut the hoses, Just want to be sure. Never had these new fangled things in my day..![]()

Each to their own, but I've never seen testing to confirm this proposition.
And if they ever start using spring clamps to locate and seal hydraulic and/or pneumatic hose fittings, then I'll switch to same line of thinking for coolant hoses too.
And the reality is that the only reason manufacturers switched to spring clamps is cost. Quicker to fit them, and don't need a specialist tool to get the tension spot on.
They certainly do not clamp better.
I've changed all(or as many as I can reach) spring clamps to worm drives on my Td5s.
I like Projectfarm's testing
When I have to buy clamps, I tend to use the Norma/Sandvik (in Projectfarms video) style worm drives myself, but still have tons of std teeth style worm drives that don't tear up the hose. And for sure they can, and when they do that, it's time to change that old hose anyhow.

As you say, to each their own. I used to watch Project Farm but found his methodology questionable. Perhaps he’s improved. Thing is, silicon is different to the “rubber “of the other sort and I believe it needs different treatment. The other thing is that jubilee style clamps can easily be over or under tightened. Only experience can tell, and people have different approaches.

I do know that the silicon hoses don’t respond to the hot water trick.

I used to watch PF, but also found his methodology a bit suss.
