Then start with that cos it's the simplest maybe you are lucky to be that, i'm not a fan of "parts darts" kind of actions but when it comes to all kind of odd or intermittent behaviours of systems managed by the the IDM and/or BCU i've learned on the hard way to rule these out first before chasing wiring issues which can be a time consuming nightmare, before i knew that i've spent many hours following the diagrams and making continuity tests and all kind of measurements on circuits to realise at the end that the BCU or IDM was at fault and in many cases without any visible or obvious reasons.

Ok. I now have a working plib and the car is no longer immobilised. My odo reads about 140,000 ks less, and it's not flashing. Might set that right tomorrow...

To get to where I picked up the BCU is a 20 minute round trip in the car..... errr... But it took nearly four hours on the bus, with a bit of walking thrown in. Never mind, I can focus on the CAN fault stuff tomorrow.

So another BCU fixed half the issues?

The security and immobiliser, yes. The other issues are unchanged, but at least I can work on that as the car now cranks etc.

If the ECM learned the security code the engine should start and run, the CAN faults would send it to limp mode while driving not stop the engine running as long as the ECM has no fault though if you didnt unlock it with the fob after BCU replacement the ECM can still be immobilised unless the passive immobiliser was disabled... you can't replicate the CAN faults without a running engine or the faults will be current as long as the engine doesnt start for some reason so better get the engine running first then go further

P.S. I just realised that there is a too cryptic statement in those fault descriptions i attached few posts ago as they should have said :"ignition to be switched on whilst fault not present and engine STARTED" instead of "cranked"
