D2 CAN system
I've hijacked Adarewyr's thread enough with my similar issues. Starting this one.
Recap: The car has been off the road while I do some long overdue maintenance. In the course of this I had the accessory position on the lock on, so I could listen to music. OK, this drained the battery enough to prevent starting. I charged the batt, started the car, moved it 20 metres, and left it idling to burp the cooling system. So far, so good, except that the security system horn would sound if I put the car into neutral. Weird, never in my 16 years of ownership has that horn so much as squeaked.
Switched it off, started it again no problem. Came out the next morning to find it would crank but not start. Played around, cleared codes, and it started, but refused to respond to the pedal. Switched it off, and no start again. Nano reported a topside switch issue. I removed the red and black plugs, found very little oil (?, changed the harness recently-ish), but sprayed it with stuff to clean it. Removed the ECU cover to look in there, all clean and good. Put it back together and it started and ran fine. Went inside for a cuppa etc, came out and it was immobilised.Grr. EKA sorted that, once I remembered how to do it. Well, Google remembered. started ok. Then, next time I got no start and M&S lights flashing. At this point I suspected that the CPE wiring I had repaired may have been the issue, perhaps I had reversed the two wires. although I don't see what difference that would make, but I swapped them and it started.
Every thing leads to more rabbit holes, and I have become confused with what was vs what is. Tunnel vision is why I am posting this.
I went out on Monday night and drove the thing about 300 meters, and it was great, until it stopped. It hasn't startred since, and the M*S have returned. This morning I went to check, and it is immobilised again.
Nano reports, in he Autobox section, the codes P1842 CAN level monitoring, and P1843, CAN timeout monitoring.
AFAIK, the D2 is only partially CAN, I think that the CAN modules would be the ECU, BCU, TCU and cluster.. Oh, and SRS I guess. So, if the wiring is OK it will be one of these? The car has had some water in it because this muppet didn't clean the sunroof drains and it has ****ed down here. I pulled he fusebox ( been there, done that)and found it to be a little wet, but no corrosion this time. So??
PS, just saw shack's post re he TCU. Given its location it's probably wet too. I have a spare somewhere. Try that next.
