    D2 Cabin filter

Has anyone discovered a better alternative to the useless cabin filter foam for the D2. I’m on my third replacement due to deteriation. Also the last one shrunk and didn’t cover the area on full any way. I’ve tried searching but cannot find anything on this. Any ideas appreciated. Cheers Chris

Clark rubber(because of ease of attainability) pool filter material. They have different grades of it. I chose a more open structure than the original type. Much more resilient than the original(or even aftemarket type stuff).

    I fitted it to my D1 years and years ago(maybe 9 .. can't remember).
Didn't have enough for the D2 then, but didn't matter the plenum on the D2 was in too many pieces.
About 2 years now, I got a Chinese plenum of AliEx for a decent price. Plenum fit and quality is more than acceptable, but my only complaint was the same filer foam they used. Only 2 years, and already it's getting hard, and I know if I handle it any more times(it keeps shifting) .. it's going to fall to bits.

As it's under the bonnet and gets no sun, it's not UV that's causing deterioration, it must be heat/cold cycles or something.

The pool filter material is a bit thicker, but it does compress to fit into the slots easily.

Same stuff they use for central heating return filters, or bus AC filters. Just generic. Or pool stuff, like Arthur suggests. Buy a metre and keep it forever.

I had a quick peek on Clark Rubber and can't find the stuff I got from there long ago. Maybe they don't sell it any more???

I'll have to search in the shed, as I have a small piece left, but this stuff is a 'sheet' kind of like a gauze/scotchbrite looking stuff, open weave.
I remember the guy at CR said it was pool filter, he didn't specify, but I assume more like leaf/litter type filter, not extra fine particle filter type thing.

You can get the AC filter stuff at the Hammer Barn. Whether it's a particulate filter is anyone's guess, but it has to be better than the 26 yo stuff currently in my car.
