Interesting - I'm having the same problem (every now and again) with my D1. Turning the steering wheel till it locks and then applying a little torque to the wheel as I insert the key seems to get things operating again for me. ;)
99% of the time there's no problem at all.

I have had the same problem now for about a year but after a twisted spare key and hours of being stuck I have figured out how to get around the issue. Just insert the key into the ignition, tap the end of the key firmly with your knuckle a few times and Bob's your uncle.
I met someone who has had the same problem for 2 1/2 years and uses the same method, no worse over time.
This method has the advantage of being free. Good Luck

I have had this problem for a while, I got a can of spray lube, i;e Not CRC mineral oils, (they go sticky after a few months),get something that evaporates and leaves the oil behind,(they generally smell of solvent), if the product has a nozzle, push it in the key slot and give it a squirt, I no longer have a problem, key goes in easy and turns every time.
