    Landrover Discovery TD5

Can anyone that owns a TD5 in the club tell me if they are happy with them or not. We are thinking about buying a 2004 model turbo diesel want to use it for offroading and towing. We have been told if we chip it it will be better for towing and what are they capable off roading? We currently own a GQ Patrol.

I have a stock TD5 and tow a 2t boat with ease wouldn't waste money on a chip. ACE is worth every penny!

lro11 thats a funny thing, I don't have ACE & wonder why would you need it, mine handles corners really well as it is. With the chip though I know what it was like before - good around town but highways with hills had me kicking down a cog most of the time, after the chip it just chugs up in top gear, no fuss. I'd be keen to drive a disco with ACE, maybe I should go test drive one!

Get a drive of an ACE D2 Ricey,TOP STUFF!!!!
I have 2" spring lift and 235/85 MTRS(equals at least another 1 1/2 inch lift).
I can go real hard around roundabouts with no body roll.
Our Classic Rangie or my mates 80 series are scary around the same roundabouts at the same speed!!!!

I have driven both with and without ACE mine also has 18" wheels which help. I know this is a broad statement but I reckon it handles better than my old M3

Hi andsue, TD5 2001 bought new love it will not be selling it.

153K things replaced, radiator, fuel regulator, new injector harness oh and a battery.

Still drives with plenty of power just like the day I drove it off the factory floor. Has been kept well serviced.

The trick is to buying one of these cars is make sure there is service history from a Landie specalist not just the local BP mechanic.

If your going to be towing give dobbo a PM he is about to do some upgrades to his TD5 for the main purpose of towing.

    Plus fuel economy is excellent.

Sorry as per your last question a D2 Td5 is one of the most capable 4wd's around when shod with decent A/T's. Well it's not in the same league as a D3, but big price difference don't forget.

Reckon I might take a spin in one, pity ACE can't be retro fitted though, I've done a ton of upgrades on mine to change it over now. I've just found it easier to go over the roundabout on my street

I've just upgrading to a Disco with anti-roll bars. I'm amazed how flat it rides in corners!
