Question Do I have a CDL or not...?

    Hi guys,
Was looking at an old thread from Pedro and baz about the CDL in the D2.

I know where the Vin # is, but where on the g'box or transer case is the serial #?

    Thanks.

...hoping I can follow the instructions that Baz has to get CDL. I know the g'box has been replaced - so hoping that it has the CDL internals - if not I miss out!

G'BOX - 4HP22...I think this means no CDL internal or external..>?

    .....I've lost me thanks button......

    2000 should have it.
Look above the front propshaft where it leaves the transfercase.
Feel for a threaded stud ontop of a round flat area around 40mm in dia.
Threaded stud protuding you have a CDL,smooth you have none.
Get a 10mm spanner and put it on the nut on the stud, turn it and you lock your CDL.
There are pics posted, search and you will find!!!

Some info on whether it has and hasn't got the internals, you need to look at the Transfer Case serial number, not the G/Box serial number

The early Disco II"s were not supplied with a centre diff lock function for the LT 230 transfer case but this has recently become an option when ordering a new vehicle.

The first Disco II"s had the diff lock capability on the transfer case but this was then phased out on the later ones.

We are able to supply both the factory linkage assembly and the parts to convert the transfer case if required.

The linkage is easy to fit, cable operated and very neat.

If you have the diff lock stud on your unit you will only require the linkage parts, to determine this you will need to find the transfer case serial number and check it starts with either 41D or 42D.

If it starts 61D, 62D, 69D or 70D then you will need the diff lock parts to go in the transfer case which are an additional £ 225. Click Here for a photo of these parts.

    Wink ...oops...look again.

    Thanks heaps guys.
Hoping to make a run with the boys from British Off Road on Saturday....from easy to hard terrain apparently....not sure where they're going yet.

....thought I was looking at the wrong serial box!

I'll have another look tonight....the guys might even be able to tell me as the box has been replaced.

I notice I have a couple of oil leaks underneath.....looks like power steering hose and somewhere between the motor and g'box. ....maybe oil filter - if it's in that position....don't know yet. Some is hitting the exhaust - don't like that idea much!

I'm impressed with the carpet under the car. It can't leak oil too badly
