    D2 rear tail light assembly

Have a query for the disco boys...
I'm trying to work out a way to get my indicators up higher and away from the bumper. I've seen in one thread that some guys use the reverse position and put a coloured bulb and change the wiring. Then wire in new lights under the bumper for the reverse.

I'm wondering if the later model D2, which I'm pretty sure had the indicators up in the top assembly and the reverse lights beside the fog anyway. My question is are they interchangeable? Obviously there's still some wiring required to complete the changeover.

Has anyone done or heard of this being done?

    Thanks.

did it to my disco 1, just buy the later type lamp assemblies with the indicators in them, they go straight in.
not sure if i had to fiddly with wiring, but think it is all there.
the early models didn't have indicators up there ue to some silly law about the spare tyre blocking the right lamp.

i would think that the the two ets of lense's will be a straight fit. its just as you said, rerouting the wiring for the blinkers and reverse lights. might also have to change the wiring at the multi plug(right term?) that connects into the main lense. nothing hard though. a test light and an hour of your time.

I would also expect that the lens's in the bumper and the rear light cluster would be interchangable with MY03 units. The wiring isn't difficult at all.

When people are saying to use the later model lights they mean the 97-99 Disco1 lights (or 91-93). Not the Disco2 pillar lights you asked about.

    Just thought I'd clarify that.

If the indicator wiring isn't already in there then take it from the trailer plug on the driver side behind the tail light. Then run the passenger side indicator wire under the aluminium trim under the back door.

    I don't think the D1 light cluster will fit a D2

i think alll the wiring is there already. i just put some of the later lights on my d1 because i got a rear scorpion bar with no lights and had to do nothing with the wiring - just clipped the new light in and it was all there. would of thought it would be the same with the d2 as some have them and some don't.

Sorry thought you were trying to fit D2 lights into a D1.

no i meant late model disco2. i saw in his sig and OP that he has a 2000 disco2. i believe slunnie also meant late disco2 into early disco2.
