I have only had my car about 4 months & have used it a few times & quite like it. Again, it's not for rutted out tracks with huge boulders everywhere but for mild slopes that aren't too rough. if you use it on these kind of hills, you can go down & enjoy the scenery a bit more & less stress on your leg. my 2c worth.
Found this in RAVE, seems my earlier speed estimates were out a bit, but then again those figures were from practical experience and memory, the latter of which is virtually useless these days .:eek:
I gotta say though, I reckon these are way too high, the HDC seems much much slower in practice than the 7kph shown in the table.

That is how I would use mine, I put "Sometimes but gives me the willies" used properly it is fine but in most situations I will keep it off.
Most anoying thing is with the D3 is it comes on as soon as you select Terrain Responseyou have to switch it off if you don't want it.:(
Only use mine to operate the shuttle valves.
Too fast for me.

In the Auto if you select "Sports mode" on the tranny, and in low range it effectively locks the tranny in 1st gear. I have never have had the experience of the auto to "run away". Just another great feature of the Landrover.
maybe the poll should have differentiated between diesel and petrol
that would have an impact on the “engine braking” capacity of the vehicle?
in my post I meant leaving it in drive not neutral. I have experienced running away in an auto...they tend to have less engine braking than a manual...its the old saying manuals for down hills, autos for up hills.
Anyway I still dont understand what the instructor was on about.
