And I have a receipt from getting my chassis straightened to prove Bush65's theory. Bloody expensive one too.

It's not that expensive to repair a crack, as they don't weld it together but a plate is welded to the chassis over the crack, it has too be a certain shape too for added strength, my repair was around $400, but that included other work and it was Bruce Davis, he tends to be a tad on the expensive side.
Baz.
I have much the same thing in my D1 and it drives me nuts, as the car is otherwise quiet. I noticed mine stops squeeking in the rain, so I gathered it was the rear door moving around against the door seal when dry and thus un-lubricated.
More of a creaking really.
I spray silicone onto the door seal and that stops it for a while before it returns again.
Today I stuck gaffer tape all round the inside of the door where it touches the seal and we'll see how this goes. I have been told that if Armorall or such gets onto rear door seals they squeek like crazy.
Complicating things for me is a squeek from the LPG tanks in the back: these tanks sit a little too far back and the rear of the whole unit actually presses slightly into the rear door trim. I often wonder if this is causing my rear door squeek and my LPG tank squeek.
I'm going to take the spare off the rear door soon, too, and see if that makes a difference.
