Well stop putting unleaded in it......though seriously bummer, what is the cause.....is it a common thing for D2's?

I love "green oval"
But the D2 has just done it's third fuel pump
My D2 is making me feel similar to what Kerry O'Keeffe said about Mark Webber, "you wouldn't get a lift home from the pub with him - 'cause you wouldn't be sure to make it home."
Trail off to "Life of Brian" music, da dat da dat da dat, always look on the bright side of life......![]()

Are you running it dry?
I'd be dropping the tank and getting it cleaned out whilst the new pump is going in.
My d1 fuel pump died due to a wiring failure recently. Replaced it, now ihave no fuel gauge. Oh well i just keep it full until i can get around to looking at it again. This time when i look at it it will be surrounded by a new floor.
Do the TD's use a different fuel pump to the petrols...I havent heard of the V8 series II ones playing up but I have heard of a few in the TDs now.
Cheers
whats a replacement one cost
I had never ending probs with the pump in my D1 V8. Apparently the wiring joint wasn't up to carrying the load at the connection just above the tank. Took it to an auto elec who fiddled around and improved it ... no more probs, other than the old MAF ... I don't think I'd like to start today issue ...![]()
Interesting. Frenchie has a Td5 Defender and his pump sounds cactus again (see his thread).

Apparently the pump on the D2 TD5 is a weak point. Seems they can go gradually or all at once. Mine is slowly losing pressure which has the effect of losing power, i.e. not enough juice to the engine.
