    A few TD5 questions

    Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum. After 5 years of owning a series 1 V8 disco I have bought a 2000 TD5. It was a private sale at the right price and came with a few problems for me to sort out. Can you help me with these questions.
My radio keeps saying code 1, I enter the code I was told and the radio works for about 5 min and then goes back to code 1. When it works the display is flashing. I am getting sick of entering the code ever 5 minutes.
My odometer is flashing, it works fine but is flashing. Any idea how to fix this?
The air suspension has been replaced with coils, could you let me know where the compressor should be. I am just curious if it is still there. Is this compressor any use for anything else or is it too small? The off road suspension mode light is permanently on, is there an easy way to get rid of this light or should I pull the dash out & remove the bulb?

    thanks
    from Marty.

Radio may be a dodgy connection to the power lead. It should only ask for the security code when the batteries been disconnected. Check the fuses and wiring.

Flashing odometer, I seem to recall something about this being posted before, try a search on the forum. My be a BCU fault.

Never owned a D2 with SLS in the rear so don't know about the compressor. The light however is because it still thinks it has SLS and this can be disabled with the diagnostic software at a dealer or service place.

The compressor mounts in a cradle attached to the chassis approximately beneath the front passenger seat.

The SLS warning light is a permanently-mounted LED rather than a globe, so using diagnostic software is the only option.

Radio, as has been said dodgy connection behind head unit or fuse connection in fuse blocks. Could even be a faulty radio.
The speedo flashing could also mean the instrument pack has been replaced & doesnt match the original BCM.
As said compressor under passenger seat, & BCM will need to be told coils now not air springs unless u want to go back to them.

    Cheers

Nothing Wrong with the Radio, it needs the code and yes, will give you a couple of minutes play time before switch off. Just take the books to a landrover dealership, they will most likely give you the code for free and and worse case is once they know who you are if they dont have the code you just need the serial on the case.

Been through this before when I got mine, Hope this helps for the radio

Off-road suspension, will be reading a fault as the ECU doesnt know its been converted to coils.
Unsure wether a Nanocom can delete change the suspension setting from air to coil, worth getting somebody with one to have a play.

    Thanks

Thanks for the replies, I found the compressor it is still there. I have just been to the local mechanic but his buggery box will only talk to the ECU not the BCU. I live in Maryborough & will probably take it to the Land Rover place in Gympie, less than an hour away. Hopefully he can talk to the BCU.

I would be interested in buying the compressor if it works?

Wow, Ive been wondering what this is for. Has anyone mounted a second battery there by chance ?

Yep, me! Its a Remco 12-80 80AH AGM on its side, with a clip-in base plate that extends out past the battery terminals for support. There is rubber matting stuck to the chassis, the base plate and in front of the battery. It's been across Madigans and along loose gravel roads without harm. Previously I had a 68AH Ca/Ca battery there, also unharmed.
