That will be for those that have the separate controls and outlets for front and back of the vehicle. It has an extra evaporator/flower unit in the rear left hand storage bin location. (see workshop manual page 82-23)

I need to fit a battery tray for a second battery, they have 2 in the Pirahna listings for TD5.
One is listed as being for D2 fitted with "dual airconditioning", is this the A/C with separate digital controls for driver & passenger?

I to have looked at these trays........
But cannot work out why one is for dual Aircon when there is no extra components under the bonnet, its all inside like already stated.
If anyone over there is going to talk to Pirhana for anything, would be most appreciated if they can ask what the diff is and post it here........Thanks
I haven't seen the battery trays under discussion but with a dual air installation there are extra refrigerant hoses that run from the left hand side of the engine bay to the rear evaporator unit. These hoses are connected to the plumbing for the front evaporator and may restrict the space available between the ABS unit and the firewall.
Additionally some dual battery installations (sealed deep cycle units) put the second battery inside the vehicle in one of the storage bin locations.
It is possible to fit a pretty large battery into a Series 2 Disco as shown below. This is a custom made tray - just a few bits of angle and flat bar. I had to move the alarm horn and the inertia switch which can be seen attached to the front of the battery tray, alongside the small additional fuse box. There is a bit of villa board to shield heat off the turbo. This particular battery was in this position for 6 years, after having been in a Defender for 2 years prior to this.
Excuse the dirty engine bay as this photo was taken halfway through a holiday trip.
The only downside was that I had to remove the battery when changing the TD5 oil filter.- not a big deal.
Erich.
Thanks for the input, unfortunately the people selling them have no idea.
Have just fitted an ARB battery tray, very good value for money, under $80.00. powder coated and included all bolts.
Easilyfitted with a small amount of mucking around included. Now to see what is the best and largest battery that will fit.
Got any pictures of the ARB tray ?
And where you got it from ??
Thanks
Here's a link to my Install of Dual Batts in a V8 d2 using the ARB Tray.... You get them from ARB! I paid about $60 and it was easy to put in. Took about 30 mins to move the odd bit and whack a dent into my mud guard.
