The handbook states 4-wheel trailers with coupled brakes - max 4000kg on road and 1000kg off road, as long as local regulations are complied with. I understand that these days, in NSW anyway, the limit is the manufacturer's limit.Quote:

Easy solution – Buy a bigger boat, one that doesn’t come on a trailer…
my old pre ABS Disco1 one was also 4000kg manufacture’s spec, and QLD rules state

the vehicles to which they are attached, must have brakes fitted (see Braking systems).
So (in QLD) 4000kg for a RRC is OK, and 3.7 – 3.9t with a D2 is going to get expensive sooner or later, any ½ awake officer will notice the 70mm ball and instantly recognise that you know you’re over, can’t even play the "I didn’t realise" card
I actually find it interesting that there is a number of people pointing out the insurance problems faced here (Myself included) but it’s encouragement that greets the "oversized tyre" questions…:eek2:
Hi all and boy did I open a can of worms. That was not my intention. So I will answer a few. I really treat my Disco well, yes all heavy loads are tricky just starting and stopping smoothly. Being mindful of clutch still the original one. The trailer That I tow is a Mackay 4t, 780 tare with landcriuser wheels 15", and running gear. Electric over hdy. and 4 wheel disc brakes plus breakaway. Boat and trailer fully legal and inspected in Vic and Qld. Total weight leaving home on a long trip, say Mackay the total mass weight can be 3.4 t, Extras carried in the 7 seater. But on the way home there is always left over fuel, water, food and memories. I have spent alot of time and effect to achieve this. Buy a bigger boat, Well when the family becomes self sufficent that will happen but for now a trailer sailor is what I got.
On the operating side, 1st gear is a lot taller than most other 4x4 that I have owned. Low range for the first few changes then back to high range 1st. Never a problem. My original question was about exhaust manifolds, with the new exhaust and the manifold work carried out thanks to BLKnight---a big thanks, am yet to clean out the intercooler but is on the list. To all that have replied THANKs it was worth to join your site.
