Show us ya roof racks for a D2

Heres mine, A Genuine Land Rover expedition one,

Pro's, sits high enough to allow BOTH sunroofs to be used, good sized load area, factory item so fits well. Its also in kit form so can be taken apart for easy storage when not in use (I leave it one)
Feet sit over B, C and D pillars at the strongest part of gutters
Somewhere to mount ya roof lights. :p

Cons, Steel so will rust when powder coat comes off. quite heavy, needs 2 to fit it, Not as "pretty" as some out there, but a lot cheaper.

I have the Rhino Rack, it's fine, no wind noise, it's light, attaching things is easy.

I also have the Rhino shovel holder, awning brackets and Hilift jack brackets that i made to attach to with the bracket holders (things that slide in the rail of the bar)

Thanks for the pics and feedback. At this stage looks like Rhino will get the nod as I like the set up of having just the racks or adding/ taking off the luggage carrier part. What would be max length one would have....I was thinking about 2-2.1m long? Also Baz what type of strap etc is holding the whatsamacallit on the side of your rack there. If I get the Oztent, I assume that is similiar as to how one would attach if only using the racks? Thanks,

Stevo - I've got the same set-up as sniegy has described on mine. I find that with the three cross bars, can easily support the rhino cage, and I still have the three cross rails up there when I take the cage off. Has come in handy for collecting lengths of timber / steel etc for house renovations and other projects.

Stevo if you get the Rhinos go for the lower ones and just shave a bit of plastic out of them then space them up. They will sit nice and close to the roofline of the Disco. You can get longer bolts and spacers from Rhino.

I had one of the Land Rover expedition racks also...found it to be excellent apart from not being able to fit a rooftent without modding it.
Another usefull tip with those racks...dip the assembly screws in copper-slip or anti-seize compound when you put it together. The mild steel threaded inserts rust the screws in tightly!
