Thanks for the honest reply Mark.
and in the same vein,,
there have already been a couple of our members in your mag, and while happy with the pics, not so with the editing of their words, meaning all references to this site were,, mislaid?
AULRO is at the forefront of presenting "Happy Land Rover Ownership" to the general Australian (world?) public and would seriously consider any reasonable collaboration.
Thanks for that Pedro, really I'm not too sure about past experiences, this is my second stint with the company having worked on their performance magazines before and now they asked me to return in September to work on the 4WD DVD. As far as I can see, we're always up for new ideas cars and tagging along on trips. I'm definitely not here to market the magazine in any way, but I guess the positive is, that if you consider me to be "one of the crew" on AULRO, then you effectively have a "man on the inside" :)
So.... who's for a Stockton run?
There are plenty of other members here involved in professional endeavers that benefit from this site, or work somewhere that does.
Mark was not advertising or fishing for clients.
You are not going to stop anybody from a magazine looking through the site for features for their publications if that is what they want to do because you don't even need to be a member.
In fact, by stating where he works, he is MORE likely to be harrassed by us when anything in the mag is published that someone doesn't like.
Some people WANT to have their ride published. Xavie didn't, Tolinja did. Same car . Same Mag. At least we MAY have a point of contact now to get our side of the story too.
I'm pretty sure being a magazine they have commercial interests as they are a business, and the business of business is making money. Advertising us makes no money. In fact we have more to gain from them then they have from us.
I would be happy if ANY of my trip reports were run as articles, but I do it for the enjoyment of the people on this site.
And getting back to the Original Reason for the thread.
No way should the fender be last. If they had of tested a 130 there would have been no contest:p

Cripes Pedro, hope you dont have a job in PR :p, if one wants to look at being professional...this is a very unprofessional way to approach it...if anything a PM would have been more appropriate seeing as being one of 000's of members I have been smited.Quote:

This is aimed fairly and squarely at YOU,, BOXER
The free use of our site to help outside professional ventures is something not normally (if ever) tolerated.
However, we will allow your appeal on the proviso if our members submit articles that appear in your magazine, this SITE receives due recognition.
Please respond promptly or your post will be edited.
In terms of the "issue" shouldnt that be taken up with some one in that area, not some bloke who works there and is on here cause he drives a Disco....P.S. Welcome Boxer :).
Also can't see how one can say the free use of the site to help professioal ventures is not tolerated then complain when said professional venture may/ may not mention AULRO...but if you do..its A Ok . Seriously bit heavy handed with the approach there ,

Stevo
Yeah sorry Pedro, gotta agree with Stevo a bit here.:) I didnt see Boxers comment as overty advantageous or commercial. He did it in passing...would have been a different situation if he produced his own thread about it.
Welcome to the forum Boxer. I myself would love to have my Disco in the magazine...though I think there has been plenty Discos in lately.
Angus
No offence to Boxer because I don't think advertising was his intention.
But -
I think this works both ways.
AULRO isn't in it for the money, but it's the advertising dollars and subscriptions, and Inc's deep pockets and hours of toil that keep us going.
Hmm, just like a magazine.
If a representative from a magazine comes in and makes a post that looks like advertising I think it's quite fair to either ask for the advertising to be paid for, or that some form of reciprocal arrangement be found.
Cheers
Simon

For all you newcomers---
Please be aware if I use the MOD HAT bit,, its not me,,
Its upper management talking.
Its the OWNERS call on all things like this.
If you have a problem with the stance taken,, I would suggest you talk to HIM.
I think we all agree with the amount of time/expense and effort it takes to maintain this great site. Theres no question about that at all in my mid anyway.
However in this case Boxer wasnt advertising, else I would too agree (in fact I sent Inc a PM not so long ago about the rules of advertising on the site and he was very helpfull). that Mark or anyone else for that matter needs to do the right thing.
Cheers,
So are you saying that only applies to someone who works for a magazine that happens to be in 4WDing or anyone. If someone asks a finance quesiton on the forum and I say Im a finance broker would that apply? Or I know a recent get together was held at a pizza place that someone from here organised with other AULRO members...does that apply?Quote:

We have a few people from different mags who drive LR's and are members here, is this how we go about welcoming them? I hope not as not much of a template.......I understand the sentiment...but there are better ways to go about things.
