    Not a good start.

Well I picked up the Disco last Friday.
Headed straight up to British Offroad at Forest Glen to get the ECU up grade done.
Job done and heading back to Brisbane, not impressed.
Not sure when I noticed something was not quite right but I stopped for a coffee then restarted the engine, F@#k me it was running rough.
Turned around and went straight back to BOF.
Cutting a long story short, first diagnosis, oil in the injector loom, on further investigation, injector # 2 had **** it self.
5 hrs later I'm heading south again, all in all I'm very happy the way it's going now, much stronger all through the rev range. Towing should not be a problem.
Couple of questions, anybody else done an injector on their TD5 ?
Secondly, pretty hot in Brisbane and I did not get out of town before going to work on Saturday arvo, the engine fan seemed to be going all the time, is this common?
Is there something I should be looking at?
Temp gauge sitting a smidgen above the half way mark.
    Your thoughts please.

Injector loom isn't uncommon. I've only heard of 1 TD5 injector going bad without some sort of physical trauma.

The temp gauge while there is normal. Despite what it looks like, it's basically a 3 position gauge. Bottom is cold. It then jumps to the middle for normal, and if there is a big problem then it jumps into the red.
    Cheers

The fan is on a viscous coupling so it will run all the time, the viscous coupling acts like a ......viscous coupling !!! and is that way to take the load off when starting, river crossing or jamming a stick or arm in it.

When you say the fan is going all the time, is it the electric one ? Check to see if your radiator is hot/cold at both ends. This will let you know if the thermostate is not opening. ie hot to touch at inlet, dead cold down bottom at outlet. Has your air con stopped cooling ? Ive found this is the best way to tell when its really is getting hot.

The fan runs when the AC is on.

I don't think that's why there's a viscous coupling. Rather, it is a temperature-sensitive clutch instead of having the fan permanently operating at full capacity as in days of old. I certainly wouldn't put my arm anywhere near the fan as I'm sure the fan wouldn't blink.

As it's been pretty warm and the A/C has been going the whole time, I will have to do a run with it turned off and see whats happens.
    Thanks for the replies.
    Talk about **** happening.
Have not had the car a week and today I had to replace the battery.
Only driven it once since I picked it up.
Not going to be driving it for another week, whats going to go wrong next?
Well at least if all this goes wrong before we head off road, we might have a trouble free run.

FYI - Oil in the injector loom can generate Injector faults in the ECU, it's not the injector, it's the loom that causes the injector to appear faulty. Hopefully they did the loom then reset the ECU then checked Injector #1 before deciding it was faulty. Or else they did some other tests on the faulty injector. Otherwise I fear you got diddled.

Slunnie, When I was having over heating problems(New coolant thermostate stuck closed) I could turn off the motor, remove keys and the air con electric fan would stay on untill things had cooled down some.
Still dont know if this is what he's talking about.

G'day Zute, I absolutely agree with what you're saying. He just needed to isolate the AC from the equation.
    Cheers
