    TD5 DII Brake booster

i have noticed after checking my front brakes that the brake pedal operates unusually. i dont know if it is standard on a deisel or not due to having a vacuum pump rather than pulling manifold vacuum, but when i apply my brakes first time i get a good pedal feel, if i aply immiediately after the pedal is harder and if i pump a few times the pedal goes solid. if i wait for a few seconds the pedal goes down a little and is softer, more normal.

is this usual for these or am i up for a new vac pump ?

i have thought about maybe adding a vacuum tank ?

i tow a 1.5 t caravan and have only once had the brakes get a little warm on the run down dorigo mountain which is a killer anyhow, but this concerns me.
