There are a few bits i'd like to replace on my d1, where abouts are you?
Hi fellow LRD lovers
my d1 has diedover the 40 degree days the engine overheated and now the repair costs dont justify themselves
so.
i upgraded :-)
i now have a 2000 model d2!
love it!
onroad, but i feel that offroad, its not as capable as my d1
before i dispose of the d1
is there anything i should rip off it so i can keep as parts, ie, alternator, etc.
or is there anythign i can use to retro fit to a d2, ie, CDL components?
any help/advise would be great!
thanks!!!
anyone need parts off a d1?
everything was in working order other then the cruise control (myd2 one doesnt work either)
and the engine is not in good shape, but all the bits are fine,
new alternator, new master brake cylinder, water overflow.
There are a few bits i'd like to replace on my d1, where abouts are you?
I think that you'll find it a lot more capable offroad.
Cheers
Slunnie

Sorry I have no idea what parts fit on a D2 as I don't have one, but where are you as I might want some D1 parts?
Hi, there are few similarities in the 2 models - there are some
To my knowledge the following are interchangable from the D1 to the D2
The rotary coupler under the steering wheel is the same for all airbag models
The dash surround and dash vents are the same for VIN MA models onward
The high and low pitch horns
The front window winders are the same from mid 1995 onward
The handbrake - not handbrake cable
The cruise control vacuum pump and bellows for petrol models
The inertia relay (slightly different mounts)
The rear tail shaft
The heater core and a/c evapourator VIN MA onwards
The light switch / indicator wiper switch VIN MA onwards (airbag models)
24 spline diffs ???
Late model LT 230 (with the cross drilled gear) ???
3.9 and 4l starter are interchangable as are numerous engine components. Many switches appear the same but have different plugs.
There are probably more

V8 or diesel, and where are you.
As long as they are both Auto's or manuals, If not you need to buy the mounting bracket for the lever assy, and the CDL lever that comes of the actual shifter down to the transfer case as the Auto and manual use different ones. It can be done, but tbh its more hassle than its worth. The "04" linkage assy is far easier to use and a LOT quieter in the cabin to.
If your D1 has the twin UJ tail shaft, swap over that, also diff centres can be swapped but not the housings
The rear (cargo) door is the only panel that carried over.
Head lights on late d1's, just got to do both

Hi people,thanks for the reply
my old car is 1994 Discovery 1 with the updated interior, almost similar to the d2.
it is an automatic petrol, and everything other then the cruise control worked a treat on it before the engine caput.
in the last 6 months i have put a original landrover alternator on it, a water tank resivior, and a master brake cylinder.
its got a 3 inch lift suspension, spring and shocker lift. 8 or so months old.
was a perfect car up until the engine overheat.
it is up for sale.
i am located 5 minutes from melbourne central.
it has a full set of bf goodridge mud tyres.
i may put them on my d2, which has an almost new set of michelin tyres (up for sale)
my new d2 is manual, and i'm thinking of striping my d1 of all the parts that i can use on the d2 before i give it to a wrecker.
does anyone know if the d2 manual uses a compatble cdl system to the automatic d1?
regards
