I have an 01 TD5 S2 manual. I live in the Adelaide Hills and comute daily to the city. I have had the Disco for 3.5 years now and have always got between 10 and 10.5 Litres/100km and down to 9 litres/100km on trips only time that went bad was when I had a roof rack on and also on the Simpson desert fully loaded and 3 adult passengers still got 14.7 Litres/100km. I have done the EGR removal recently and have noticed even better economy.

Gday Craig,was speaking to a guy at work and he had a similar problem to you but on a landcruiser,after many hours and several mechanics it turned out he had a partially blocked intercooler..Not sure how this relates to the td5 but if all else fails could be worth getting it checked.
