    New Disco - 2004 okay?

    Hi all,

I have decided on a TD5 auto disco as my new 4x4 and after searching have a few questions and I suppose thoughts/statements from what I have read.

Feel free to shoot down any silly statements

(I like the 2004 as they have depreciated but still have reasonable mileage)

Models fitted with SLS can still run a 2" lift using spacer blocks on the rear?.

When the SLS dies I can use the compressor as a compressor for tyres etc and replace the bags with coils.

I can still run front and rear diff locks with the traction control/descent control still connected?

A 2" lift doesnt generally effect steering so castor correction isnt normally required.

Does a 3" lift require castor correction?

When i was in East Timor I had the previous model (4cyl) and the binging and boinging of warning chimes drove me mad. Can they be disconnected?

The TD5 can handle an ECU upgrade. Before upgrading the ECU is it better to upgrade the intercooler and exhaust. How much difference does mods like this make to the driveablilty.

    thanks

Models fitted with SLS can still run a 2" lift using spacer blocks on the rear?. Yes but not legal in QLD

When the SLS dies I can use the compressor as a compressor for tyres etc and replace the bags with coils. Unless the pump dies, I would invest in an after market pump

I can still run front and rear diff locks with the traction control/descent control still connected? Yes I have done this, air lockers are an open diff when disengaged. I would not recommend auto lockers

A 2" lift doesnt generally effect steering so castor correction isnt normally required. Correct.

Does a 3" lift require castor correction? Don't know but think so.

When i was in East Timor I had the previous model (4cyl) and the binging and boinging of warning chimes drove me mad. Can they be disconnected? Only the lights on chime so you can leave your key in the ign with the door open and no chimes (I did fix this in my D1 when I changed barrel)

The TD5 can handle an ECU upgrade. Before upgrading the ECU is it better to upgrade the intercooler and exhaust. How much difference does mods like this make to the driveablilty. Ask Toombie or Slunnie, I think EGR, then intercooler and exhaust then ECU so only needs one reprogramming.

My D2 is a 99 model, I just ordered a 2 inch spacer set for the SLS, and then will fit the front springs and shocks to suit.

EGR will be first eng mod, then exhaust, cooler and ECU.SWMBO restrictions.

    Hope this helps
