    Disco 2 Fuel Filter?

Wondering if people can help me, wanting to change my fuel filter, where is it?

I bought a fuel filter from Supercheap which is a silver cylinder type and was told by a mate in the 4wd club that they are on the chassis rail.

The only thing I can find is a plastic box looking thing which is nothing like my replacement filter. Is this what I'm looking for or do I need to look elsewhere?

It does hang off the chassis rail just behind the drivers side rear wheel.

    Ooooooooh hang on.

    Thats for a TD5

I'm assuming by your user name that you have a V8 which is different. I think thats in the fuel tank itself!

edit: I've just check RAVE. The pump in the tank has a coarse and fine filter in it. I suspect the filter you have bought is for the TD5

Brad, Supervcheap catalogue would've been for a 99 V8i, last of the D1 which have a Z479 ryco filter on the RH chassis rail infront and above the shock mount.
As Simon says the filter in a D2 is actually part of the pump unit, and isn't sericeable

    re filter

easy answer, some service station tanks are more rusty than others (hit n miss).the last time it happened had no power while overtakeing so limped home by not flooring it ,ward at coopers put on dyno found no power because petrol filter full of rust it was a blockage he told me ,it happens but depends on the servo , put new one in but after a while became blocked again . it took 3 more times to blow out filter (why buy new just blow it out )to get rid off what was left in tank after that was clear . most times now i dip magnet in container once i have blowen out the petrol whats left in filter every 5,000km in to a glass for just my curiousity and what looks like rust sometimes turns out to be dust ,mud or sand as well (magnet doesent attract when i dip in glass).i suspect sand or mud comeing through via breather at my petrol tank when i go on 4wd trips but remember fuel can be dirty when delivered at servos as well .so as said above the thor v8 motor on 1999 on (p38 or series 2 discos ) doesnt have outside paper only has inside gazzzze in the tank on both these models, again silly design fault i think to probabily save factory money, thats why he can not find it ,cheers.
