where abouts are you.....?
try one of the parts suppliers advertised at the top of each page here......
even if they are not in your city....im sure they can ship one to you.......
or at least tell you where to get one from.......
Are you looking for the small button in the middle of the remote or are you after an entire new remote?
It is a common problem that the unlock button wears out and AFAIK there is no replacement part for that, you need to get the whole remote replaced. The guys at MR Auto (near Brisbane) are pretty straight up with their customers and have yet to find a cheap solution so I am pretty sure there is not one. They are trying to find someone who will make the plastic casing for them but no luck there.
Going by the heaps of calls I made around Brisbane most LR mechanics keep one in stock and charge about $400 to supply and change over for you. They re-use the actual key in the new key fob.
a cheap solution.......not the prettiest.....is to pick out the remains of the the rubber.....
this will expose the switch......
now cut a piece of glad wrap or similar and drop it into the hole to cover the button......then fill the hole with silicone and let it cure overnight......
(the glad wrap is to stop the sealant from sticking to the button and circuit board......it should stick to the sides of the hole only........)
this is soft enough to flex and press the button like the original rubber did.......
on a black remote......use black silastic so it doesnt stand out.......
all you need is the smallest tube available.......which will also be the cheapest.........
a $5 tube of sealant is a lot cheaper than $400 replacement......and will work just as well......
Hi Karlsgirl,
Try eBay, I just picked up a key from the UK for AU$20 plus postage, my remote did the same as yours with the buttons secumbed to the Mrs long fingernails!!!
The changover process is a bit fiddly but if you are carefull the guts and the key come out fairly easily and can be transferred into the other case.
I saw the gladwrap and silastic idea but thought I would give this a go in the meantime.

HI guys this info may help some of you. DON'T BUY NEW KEY !. I found the way of fixing my aged remote. my buttons were almost non existant after years of digging with finger nails into it. I got this replacement pad from polmex site that looks like number eight. not hard to fit if you follow instruction. I SAVED $200 and I am so excited. I have buttons FINALLY!!!
cheers![]()
