I have looked in the markets section often - just too smaller range and not enough business flow there.
On the Gold Coast we have no option but to look to Brisbane (1 hr drive) or further away. I am buying some second hand parts right now off a guy in Melb for a fraction of the cost here - posted to my door.
And Flee Bay is frustrating when you have to compete for a part, forget to bid again etc. I would prefer to pay a reasonable listed price up front.

Try the rubber mats from Land Rover they are having a run out on some genuine D2 accessories I picked up the full set for $80 from the dealership

The D2 LR factory mats are bloody fantastic. Mine are 6 years old and look like new and are excellent at keeping sand, water and mud trapped until being emptied!!! For $80 they are amazing value. I thought they were value at $250 odd when new frankly.

I would be very reluctant to buy a set of second hand tyres unless I knew how they had been used and their age.

• The steel belts in steel belted radials can rust on the belts and de-laminate, many people are now changing tyres based on age rather than wear.
• If the vehicle was stationary for a long time on grass the the chance or rust getting through the pores in the rubber are even greater.
• Often the reason for wrecking the vehicle is because of a crash. Tyres that have been in a high speed roll-over would be something to avoid and you may never know about it till they fail.
• The tyres may have been the reason for the crash.

All very valid points.

However, it is possible to sometimes get second hand tyres, from a reputable tyre dealer. There are often people that may decide to replace a full set, and 2 of them are still ok. By ok, I mean legal, and still in good condition.

For example, I am going to have to replace my tyres soon. The front ones are still ok, but the back ones are nearly due. As I am still making up my mind about what to put on, I will replace the worn 2. Having a contact at a tyre shop helps too, and he is going to keep an eye out for some for me.

I too would be dubious about buying tyres from a wreckers, without knowing their history.

This is why it is always good to shop around and not buy of the first person sometimes if you go back to them and tell them you found cheaper they might even match or go that little more cheaper. The problem that i have come across since owning my LRD is that they assume you must be filthy ritch to even own a LR and that you will pay anything. I always tell them to there face "hey your asking too much for that part thanks anyway I'll call around more and if i don't find anything I'll get it from the US or UK for cheaper" and in some cases this has brought the price down on the parts.

The other issue with second hand tyres is that the rubber could have gone hard and you wouldn't know it until the car is at speed (especially sweeping bends) or you're searching for traction.
