Hi Biggin,
Yes it's possible, I have started these investigations myself. The prices I got - The parts from a wreck are $1100 - $1400 (just the tranfer case - not the actuator).
I am still interested in doing this even with the expense.

This subject has probably been given a thrashing already, however, I have read a lot on these sites about how to connect up existing cdl controls, but can't find anything specific about cdl conversion for models that were made without them.
Is it possible to install cdl to non cdl models. If so, is it economical enough to bother, and where can I find the parts and/or someone to install them.
Has anybody bothered to do this, and was it worthwhile.
Cheers,
Alan.

Search the archives there is plenty here...
Yes, possible
Yes do it the benefits are worth it
You don't need the whole transfer case just the front output housing with the difflock parts in it
A D1 output housing will fit and might be cheaper
etc...

Guys, just as a thought would it be cheaper just to get a 2nd hand transfer case from a wreckers with a CDL already in it?![]()
I think you might be right jaybee, I've been looking for a while and can't find any other viable alternatives.
Has anybody ever tried to buy, or had any dealings with Todd.
Land Rover Axles Transfer Case Gears Differentials
See part number LRDTC3002
I don't know if they will even deal with Australia, but it seems to be the part I need. Will it fit my D2.![]()
Hey biggin that looks right. Dunno how price compares to Oz though... have a try here too if you haven't already: triumphroverspares.com.au They've always been good for bits.
Weighing up this option as well....
How's Moe going?
Cheers from an ex-Newborough boy.
Things going well thanks Mully,
Just got back from Erica. Spent the night up there with some lads from Newborough - good fun!
Tracks pretty slippery up there at the moment. Must get the cdl and off road tyres. I'll check out your website tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.
Cheers,
Alan
I have had the whole shooting match installed in mine. Call Toorak Tractors, if they haven't got the bits, they acceot an order and they'll find one for you. I also bought orig LR linkages so it all looks right in the car. Total cost was $1600 incl fitting
If you can afford it, do it, off road its a transformation!
