    Question TD5 Auto fuel consumption

I have owned a couple of Landies in previous years - both petrol (Series 3 SWB and a Disco V8 manual). Would like to move on to a TD5 auto but would appreciate some realistic fuel consumption figures from anyone who has the experience?

LRH is getting around 10/100 out of his.
    anywhere between 10-13l/100 is acceptable.

    We've only had our 02/2004 D2 Auto for almost 2 weeks. 1st tank of fuel was 669.2km for 81.74L ... 8.2km/L or 12.2L/100km or 23MPG ...

I reckon it could be better

Mostly urban/extra urban driving at up to 90kmh max ... there's been a little bit of beach driving in that as well (5-6 5km trips down Stockton on hard wet sand after the rain, but with tyres at road pressures) .... still went unbelievably easily

Had my 2003 D2 TD5 auto for 3 weeks 1st tank was stop start city driving and retrurned 12.5 L/100. the last tank covered 764km 85.6l = 11.2 L/100 40% towing Jayco campervan, 20% mountains, 40% highway happy with the results.

Had D2 autos for 10yrs now,you should get 9-10/100 on a run & 11-12.5/100 around town. This is not towing,no rack, but often loaded. The best i ever got was 8.8,in the 04 one that i now have ,stuck behind many grey nomads doing around 80k's,on the way back from a cape trip.

The worst i have ever had was tottering around paddocks shooting, mostly spotting at night, around 25l/100k.Soft sand work also gets similar figures.

Search is also your friend as there are heaps of threads & posts on this subject.

99 TD5 auto with stage 2 ECU remap, EGR removed and very well maintained. Owned car for over 4 years, now with 121000kms

    city : 11.2 - 11.8 L/100
    highway (empty) : 9.2 - 9.6 L/100 (just under 900km when light comes on)
    highway (towing 2.8t) : 17 - 21 L/100

some mods like huge oversize tyres will make a (-) difference.

2001 Td5 Auto - usually get around 11 to 11.5 l/100k but on recent run after cleaning the MAF sensor I got 9.4 l/100km (500km to Narrabri at around 110 to 120km/hr) - was very surprised and pleased.

    alright

Everthing everyone else as said is spot on in and around town but on the highway from melboune to darwin got down to 8s at 110 km and at 115 to 125 go high 9s over all on 3745 km go 9.4L per 100kms

that was with a light load even with a camper trailer at christmas with kid on board fully loaded still got 13s to 14s with a lot of wait.

    No pardo will get that
