Does any one know how to clean a TD5 fuel pump. One for sale on ebay (Item Number 140326921607) which has an intermittant fault and I would like to give the buyer some instructions on how to repair it.

not currently a repairable Item, I have one Ive been playing with.
the tolerances are too tight inside the pump to make a field level repair workable.
I am working on a "rebuild via replacement sub assemblies" approach but I cant get parts that will do the job at a reasonable cost to fit and bits I can get to fit cost more than the $1700 for a new deefer one.

can you explain this ? is it just a con? 255LPH Fuel Pump - Land Rover Discovery Series 2 | eBay
i did ask that and he says it works with diesel and fits that car. maybe it goes inside the housing.
v8 fuel pump... one thats been designed to mount externally to the tank (thats what the rubber sleeving is for)
while they handle diesel they wont hit the delivery pressure the td5 wants for long before burning out.

It is an internal petrol pump.
The high pressure is Max output pressure (very high though) and as pointed out, pump will destroy it's self if high pressure is sustained.
Also diesel being "heavier/thicker" will draw more current. Again putting more load on the pump and shortning it's life.
