Done it twice now on 2 diff vehicles using only the 6 figure number. If you look in Nanocom at the current programmed keys, it only shows the 6 figure number anyway.

And yes you have to RF test and "sync" the key to program it.

could this be different software versions in the nanocoms?

Just wondering if any D2 owners have tried the SEPARATE key and fob product here for 55 sterling:

Land Rover Discovery II Key Fob

Having already paid more than the cost of one of these things to buy two second-hand standard LR keys, just to get some replacement plastic buttons, it looks very tempting (assuming it comes with the barcodes).

I am also rebuilding a standard LR key with sealant, but I am not confident it's a long-term solution.

Wasn't me Lyndon - I've never had to get a replacement key (touch wood).

The only set of instructions for this that I've seen were posted by jmkoffice.

Where can you buy a spare key and fob?

Don't want to stuff around programming etc and have no desire to visit the dealer - unless there's no choice.

I replaced my keys in Nov 2009. Had to get the blank cut.

Ordered them from the following.

LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 ALARM KEY FOB & KEY (UK/EUR) on eBay (end time 05-Jul-10 18:21:11 BST)

If you own a DISCOVERY 2 TD5, someone with a Nanocom should be able to program it for you.

Just make sure that you stipulate that you need a 433khz fob and not the 315khz model.

You will need to have access to a Nanocom or similar to program it to your car. If you need access to one of those I can help as I had to do the same for mine and I have a Nanocom. Its only a 10min job with the correct fob.

Also mine was cheaper than 89 pounds.

By the way I got my fob off an Ebay E-store, just stipulated that I needed the 433khz model because the US generally us the 315khz version. I'll see if I can find the place I got mine.
