Hi Pedro,
Sorry I should have said MHZ instead of KHZ.
It is actually VIN specific. 315mhz for vins up to XA999999 and 415mhz for vins from YA000001 and onwards.
My car in a 2000 model and it used the 415mhz fob.
Hope that helps.
Tony
I thought the khz difference was by year model?

Thanks for the repsonse guys. Still looking for a dirt cheap one though but I'm probably at the bottom of the barrel now.
Found this website in my travels British Parts of Utah-Land Range Rover Sport LR4 LR3 LR2 Discovery Defender Freelander Genuine OEM Accessories Parts
Appears to be good for parts. (key&Fob $135 USD, about the same as the UK, just comes down to exhange rates)

Tony & All
Just did a quick search through Microcat and the program suggest for AUS RHD use a 315 MHz.
Do you think it's a safe bet to order. (14 day return i think)
My VIN starts with SALLT**********. (3/2003)

Hi Andrew,
What are the rest of the digits in the VIN as those that you have show here won't tell you whether the car uses a 315 or a 433 mhz. There were definitely 2 different frequencies introduced into Australia.
Would you please provide the full VIN for your vehicle and I can tell you the correct key fob to use. That is assuming that nothing has been changed in the cars maintenance history, which is a good bet that it hasn't.
If you want give me a PM with a contact number and we can sort it out easily.
Regards
Tony
Folks
This is a have a look and tell me what you see.
Can all please have a look inside your fob and tell me the first two numbers of the 6 digit figure inside the fob.
I'm thinking the first number of the two indicates the frequency (maybe). If it starts with a 4 it's a 433 Mhz and if it s a 3 it's a 315 Mhz. If it starts with any other number than a 3 or 4 then this theory is out the window.
This could be a big stab in the dark but have to start somewhere.
Regards
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
2 keys.
1. 3F
2. 40
Dave.
Thanks Dave
That was a quick response to blow that theory out of the water.
Time to go a bit more high tech.
Regards
Andrew
