Don't know about Rhino but I occasionally put on a set of Rola's and they leave no marks.
The wind noise drives me nuts so they only go on when I really need them.
Thinking of getting some Rhino roof rails for the D2.
Does anyone know if the legs damage the plastic trims that are on the gutter?
I suppose a roof rack may do the same.
Thanks in advance

does anyone know if the rhino ones are also noisy?
We do have them on our work vans & we dont notice any noise, but vans are pretty noisy anyway.....
I've no damage from my Rhino racks and there is no wind noise that I can hear.
That is on a D1.
Hmm, I wonder if the noise has anything to do with how far back the rail is mounted. My forward rail is just forward of the factory rails. It is probably catching whatever wierd wind comes off the windscreen.
The noise is very similar to a tiedown strap humming in the wind, but a little quieter. I can feel the vibration in the roof liner so there is a fair bit of energy moving around up there.
My Rhinos arent noisy although i havent left them on long enough & at high speeds to check the noise out, just on the way to work on suburban roads & it was OK. Marks wise, i use mine for my roof top tent & it left only minor marks, nothing i will really worry about. i suppose it comes down to the loads you would be carrying.

I put the rhino aero bars on, and to be honest I havent noticed the noise. I used the next size down leg that is reccomended for the D2, they need a bit of trimming to clear the edge of the roofline but thats about it...plus they look heaps better.
I have noticed that the plastic trim on the gutter doesnt sit quite properly with the bars fitted...neither would you if you were clamped up tight.
Very noisy at the moment though

I have 4 on my D2 and it is only the ones that I have fitted right at the very rear (as the gutter curves round the back) that have cracked the plastic trims.
I have used other bars on the factory rails and they made a fair bit of noise but have not had a drama with the rhinos and I have the large heavy duty ones. The bonus is they are so easy to take on and off and are very versatile. cheers JP
I have the Rhino - same as nealo pictured , 210mm legs with double spacer- heaps neater than the recommended 280mm legs.
No damage to the gutter but I have fitted some rubber (cut from tyre tube) on the inside if the clamping plate. The noise on the highway drives me mental – It’s ridiculous, it’s got to do with how high the bar is from the roof so the 280s would be worse. It is solely the front bar, first trip after fitting I removed the front bar for the return journey and there is no noticeable noise from the rear & middle. They now only go on when needed.

Mine has a slightly different type of Rola "aero" style rails. These do not mount to the gutters of the vehicle at all. The front two cross rails clamp between the original Disco roof rails and are adjustable for positioning, and the third rail sits in a set of "tracks" which are mounted directly onto the roof. The third rail is adjustable to any position in these "tracks" and there is also a couple of "tie-downs" which can be slid along the tracks and locked into position anywhere between the rear rail and the front tnd of the tracks.
I do not get any wind noise at all from these rails when not loaded, and I have carried some reasonable weight up there without problem. Can't find a decent photo that shows the "tracks" very well, but the following two should give some idea. Might add that I've never seen this system (well not the tracks and rear cross rail anyway) on another Disco, and I don't know where this system was purchased or what is involved in mounting the tracks - it was all on there when I bought the vehicle. Original ownership / rego was Adelaide, though I bought it in Kalgoorlie. There's also other "accessories" that clamp onto this system with the vehicle - the most useful of these is a pair of lockable ski clamps - work very well for carrying fishing rods.
