Being hydraulic they can leak oil witch is proof of needing replacement

    Engine Drone

My D2 TD5 Automatic has an annoying engine ? harmonic drone just above 2,000 RPM then dissapears a couple of hundred RPM over. It's not the Cardon because It also happens whilst not underway. I checked the front engine mounts and they had bottomed out so I renewed both sides. I thought for a while that eased the problem ? but after doing a 6,000 km trip towing a 17 ft caravan ,it is still there. Oil in Injection harness ? yes but fixed that earlier and the drone still persists. I also had a chip fitted while in Adelaide ,all I can say to that is : WOW It powers up those hills!

Interestingly during the towing trip the bearing behind the Viscous fan ran dry as I was to find out so did the tensioner and Idler bearings I didnt have the Special 36mm spanner for the Viscous fan nut but improvised . I was on the road so I had to repack the idler and tensioner bearings with grease and spray silicone up he hollow centre of the Viscous Hub. at least it got me home and replaced all the bearings and renewed the too small Serpentine belt ,but still didnt solve the mystery of the Harmonic drone.

When I renewed the engine mounts I didnt renew the rear transmission mounts so thats next on the list . Cheers George

Last mounts I got for a member were $145 for OEM and $195 for genuine (plus $12 freight I think).
I get parts for local club members, so can easily post you some.
