Check for wear in the front and rear uni's ?
Dear all
I've tried to find out over search function if there are any solutions for my problem.
The problem is as follows.
When starting engine and change gear from reverse to drive there is a klonky noise. Sounds like the gearbox smashes the gear in. Sometimes the noise isnt here, most of time yes. As well when i change gear from drive to reverse.
I've checked the gearbox ecu and there was a fault from the inhibitor switch. Switch replaced and adjusted as in Rave written. Fault erased, road test and the same noise. Gear changes during drive are okay, dont got feeling as there would be a problem.
Checked oil level automatic gearbox, was ok but oil leak from sump. Sump and filter replaced, level checked still noise here.
Transfer case has got some oil leak, oil drained and refilled okay.
So what the hell could it be? Internal gearbox crashed? Transfer case internal? Drive train?
Would be happy to get any ideas before I get the car to a work shop. Thanks in advance

Check for wear in the front and rear uni's ?
sorry mate uni's? u mean drive shafts?
As noise started I was under car and felt that the noise is more in transfer case. Might be help more.
Yes. The universal joints are the bearing assemblies at the front end of your rear drive shaft and on both ends of your front drive shaft.
On second thought, if there was enough wear to give a clunk when shifting fwd/reverse, then the clunk would have been the least of your problems. The shaft would have been so far out of balance you would have seen a mechanic already. Trust me

Being a D2, ANY clunks from under the vehicle you should pay immediate and close attention to the front tailshaft double cardan joint!
This is a well known failure point, and if it fails completely can have catastrophic resuts...Go out and look at it NOW!
