    Hi Ean
I've been running two Blue top (marine) Optimas for years and they have been great in the RRC. The aux runs an inverter, Engel, lights, GPS and the stereo + amp. Was getting about 2.5 days running the fridge in the Kimberley last year (35C ambient). I would recommend them but they are very expensive.

    Hi
I have 5 in tractors and both the defender and disco they are expensive but worth it ,i have one in a tractor that is 8-9 years old - you need a auto charger and all batteries need a charge on 240 v every nown again .
I will becontinuing to buy them .

I have also been running them for years, i have 3 at the moment running a 3000w inverter and fridge. Its the only battery that i have come around that can handle 300amps + for a period of time when using the inverter... they are 4 years old now and still going strong.... Only secret is 14 + Voltage for charging!! keeps them very strong! Most cases you will need a Voltage booster to get the voltage up to 14.4v in normal 4x4 set ups....

Brilliant battery never let me down always full of amps to crank over ANYTHING!!

    Optimas

I have 2 marine bluetops in my defender with a manual switch. I use both as starting batteries and both as deep cycle batteries to run the Engel and accessories.
It's a simple system which costs a bit more but is more versatile than the standard dual battery setup. Only downside is I had to take out a perfectly good OEM battery...although I have found a use for it now in my shed.

When and if they fail I'll be buying more.

    Cheers

they also have a tendency to quit on you unexpectedly. here, that happens all the time. people are shying away from optimas for good and getting diehard platinums. works as well as a dual setup. keeps fridges running for days and can handle the abuse of several lights and a winch running all at once.
