Be wary, I think he will advise you well, but a D2 CV has a small 32 spline end into the CV which will break with lockers. I don;t think that Barry does the CV's for the D2, but you can beef the axle but the CV or axle will still break. I highly recommend stronger CV's and then axles to suit, not the other way around.
If you are on a budget, with a small machining mod you can put the older Rangy 10-24 spline C.V. joints in, with Hytuff axles and half shafts. They are pretty strong, not as strong as the Ashcroft.
But if money is no probs go the full monty with Ashcroft.
Worth the phone call to talk to Barry
I can't edit my previous post. The Early CV was 23 Spline at the CV & 10 Spline at the half shaft...Not 10-24. Sorry my error
Yeah Slunny there are a few people building anti burst rings for these CV joints. The only problem is I can see with the anti burst rings is to replace the CV you need to split the swivel to get them out. Do you need the Anti burst ring or the CV joint?
MR Automotive do burst rings.

I have maxi drive front as described and run 32 inch mud terrains.
I've broken one of these joints, well actually it didn't break, it started to make the clicking noise on full lock. The outer case had cracked. If you do break one, the outer case is the bit that breaks, so you would be unlucky to have any spline damage on the axle.
This is the big problem with the weak 32 spline CV joints. They break the cage and it wreck the axle splines.
Its not a big job to change to change one if it breaks. If patient, you can pick up these joints second hand for around $50 each. I considered installing the anti burst rings, but I like the idea of being able to change it quickly and easily when out bush.
Aquarangie is running 33 inch tyres and a front locker with the weak 32 splines CV type and hasn't broken one yet! I do know he is careful to keep off the right foot with a bit of steering lock on board.
I know a bloke here who has broken 2 of the stronger county types but never an older 10 spline one? Go figure!
