Firstly, what sort of LR do you have?
A D2 by the sounds.
LR use rolling codes for their alarm systems. I don't think there's an aftermarket remote that will match LRs so genuine might be your only option.
Have recently had the pleasure of the keyless (buttons) remote not working..Which is absoloutly fine because it has been tempremental for about 3 years. I had been using the drivers side door and reseting the alarm manually with the key in the lock...old fashioned never bloody fail way...the problem arouse was that after using this method for about a year the lock started to sieze...slowly..until the other day the lock went plonk!!!. alarm was set inside and with no keyless entry and no way of driving her all seemed a little grim. Brainwave which worked was take the remote to pieces and look for obvious faults. A simple solder to the battery bracket fixed the problem and the alarm and the disco is fine...untilll...
Well all is good..until something happends to that remote that is... does anyone know the best possible and cheapest way to get spare remotes that work/ synced.. Have been told by landrover perth that they are the only solution. $$$$$$$$..i never believe them and i was wondering if anyone has got a generic remote and synced it somehow...

When you go to order one, you may need to give the actual MHz frequency as there are 2 available for the Lucas 10AS alarm, 315MHz and 433Mhz.
To find out which one, the alarm module is located behind the glovebox, and is a green plastic ECU. If you look on the 'lid', (you will probably need a torch and a mirror to read it), it will have it written there.
The new one and any other existing remote need to be synchronised at the same time, Dealer can do it, or anyone with Rovacom, Autologic or the like.
