    [Discovery SII TD5] Suspension question

I Have founded some posts from Disco2 articulation and suspension mods, and it seems that 2" lifts aparently do not offer more articulation compared to factory Currently I have OME shocks on +1" coils (not +2") and I have on mind to return for my standard HD coils with that OME shocks, due to the poor gains obtained versus more rollover on road turns. Can I have any problems on compression with that mount or it will be fine ?

On the other hand, supposing that standard HD coils and OME shocks play well, can I fit 235/85/16 without rubbing, or are the 245/75/16 the max size without problems ?

    Sorry for my english

The sway bars are probably the main thing stopping your articulation/flex. Try using the search function above. Type in words like "sway bar disconnect" and "tire/tyre choice". This should point you to lots of information.

Thanks . I currently do not have sway bars installed, and the 'clonks' at maximum articulation are very big . Perhaps the OME needs 2" coils and not the 1" that I have mounted ...

Also the Watts link is another restriction for travel in D2s AND the trailing arms too.

This is probably the best you'll get from a D2

    ACE/SLS D2 4" lift

    Non ACE/SLS D2 4" lift

Compare those above to the Defender 2" lift

    Baz.
I would be interesting too see the front compressed spring.
The front springs on my D2 rubs/catches on the frame on upmost travel.
Makes quite a noise when doing so.
Wife thinks the Disco is busy breaking something.

The second D2 is mine and so far never had the rubbing/catching problem your having, front and rear springs are Lovells and have been in the car for 3yrs.

Thus far I have worked out that it is related to the spring design.
The tighness of the winds at the ends.
Mine seems very tight and those not rubbing seems to be not as closely spaced.
Going to test with other brands of springs.
    Currently using IronMan.

My D2 has Lovells +2" springs and original spec shocks, here's some pics.
    Also running 235/85r16 tyres.
Rear sway bar disconnected (unbolted), front sway bar still perm connected.
I really don't notice much additional roll on the road, unless I'm attacking a corner very hard, which isn't very often! When I first went with this setup (even before CDL activation) I found a considerable difference/improvement in handling and ability off-road.

Only prob I have is on very deep bumpy stuff I get the rear shocks bottoming out (big bangs!), but they're still intact. Will get replaced with extended shocks to suit springs when they go "pop" or when I get the spare dosh, whichever comes first!

Pretty sure its the length of the OME shocks that are reducinig the travel any further.

    Cheers,

Mine are load carrying, tight wind progessive rate.
