    Still looking?
    Some ideas,
R/H rear seat bolt goes through the floor(not likely but you never know).
Is the rubber plug in over the body mount bolt(about where your right heel rests)?
Have the drain hoses come off the heater box under the dash?

How did you go with the hoseing?

    Cheers.

Thanks for your interest alien, and sorry robinaport if I've taken over your thread. Hopefully all the replies are helping you out too.

I've narrowed the water source down a bit. I dried the carpet out, washed the car and couldn't see any sign of water entering. I put the carpet back down (didn't remove it, just lifted it up) and headed to the coast for the weekend. Didn't use the aircon at all on the trip and the carpet remained dry. Parked the car on level ground and it ****ed down with rain overnight and the carpet is soaking wet.

I can therefore assume the problem is not related to the heater or aircon. It must be entering somehow from the outside when it rains. The problem is only on the passenger side. The front and side of the front footwell where the carpet goes up is dry. There is no sign of water behind the kick panel on the left infront of the front door.

I think I'll need to remove the carpet and park the car in heavy rain to see where the water comes in from.

Anyone got any other ideas? Is it easy to remove the centre console to get the carpet out?

Any ideas will be much appreciated. It is a D2a.

    Thanks
    Martin

Console isn't to hard to get out, just be carefull around the short lever as mine was broken by last owner.
Each front section is one peice,ie. 1 left 1 right, rear foot section goes up to rear seat and is one peice also.

Have you guys got roof racks that could be leaking into roof cavity and down the pillers?

    Cheers.

Yeh, I wondered about that too. I just have the standard rails. It would be a bit hard to find out if thats where the problem is though.

It's either a windscreen leak or I have had a problem where the water apparently came in from the aircon vent. I was told by AMV in Ringwood that water can enetr here and they apparently buil a deflector to stop it. It seemed to work but I never figured out exactly what they did. Perhaps a phone call to them might be more revealing.

Sorry I can't do any better.

    Cheers,

    Franz

Thanks I haven't had a chance to look for the drain hoses yet but I am sure this is the problem and your thread has helped

Haven't had a chance to look yet but am sure it is air con hose blockage or leak - will let you know when I find it. Since it has not been near external water for over a month it must be internal leak and am in hot Queensland at the moment and use air con consistantly. thanks

I've managed to find the solution to my wet carpet problem.

In the front of the front passenger side door jam there is a rubber seal that surounds the "door opening restricter" (don't know what its real name is, LOL). That rubber seal has come unstuck which exposes a gap where the water is entering the vehicle body. Water has then been running down inside the body and coming out into the inside of the car through a tiny hole on the edge of the front passenger side footwell. This hole appears to exist as a result of a manufacturing defect.

These pictures show where the problems were:

    Disco leak 2.jpg

    Problem has now been fixed.

I guess it is unlikely that anyone else will experience the same problem but I thought it was worth posting my results just in case. Thanks to everyone who came forward with ideas.

    Cheers
    Martin
