Ooooohhhh!!!!!
Running the engine in that situation essentially causes oil starvation to all of the components as the oil pump pickup pipe isn't able to pickup any oil to pump around the engine.
Not being there, it's hard to say but assuming that the pickup pipe was out of the oil, at the very least, you've probably reduced the life of the engine significantly as you've been running metal on metal. Worst case, you've got lumps of metal in the sump!!
First port of call would be to drop the oil and inspect it to see what sort of debris is in there. If there are lumps/shavings, then the engine is probably toast!
