Well I've continued my investigations into the LPG dilemma and the question of Flash Lube has now arisen.
Does anyone use it?
Does anyone NOT use it?
Is it necessary?
I had it on my previous vehicle which was a '92 2.4l Hilux but there a varying opinions as to if it's required on the Disco.
I haven't installed Flashlube on a traditional Rover V8 yet ever, have heard of possibly 1 burnt valve in all of 25 years of gas fitting. So it's a low risk by anyone's standards. If you are doing gas injection you can do petrol addition under load on some high risk engines, such as Prado'sQuote:

The system will start on petrol and remain on petrol until it reaches 40 degrees and change over, this takes about 2 minutes from cold. We can program any change back to petrol at any rpm to suit your requirements, eg towing. This normally is set around 4000 rpm but can be set via LPG rail pressure.
I don't do much towing, just down to the boat ramp about 2kms away.

Just back to the original question I have an 02 5 Speed on LPG - love it. While I am here thanks to Bee-Utey she is running like a dream on LPG now that I have dropped the plug gaps down as he had suggested. I had installed new plugs and left them at factory spec for petrol cause I thought I did that 100,000 ago but I must have re-gapped them then and just cant remember because as soon as I dropped the gaps down the whole exhaust note changed to a much cleaner note and it runs like a dream again! Thanks mate!!
I have a LCS-2 Landi Renzo mixer in the intake system (ie half old half new ideas - mixer but with the converter controlled by the 02 sensor on one bank and using electronic instant acting solenoid by main tap and idle tap). I have 56 useable litres in 3 scuba linked tanks in the load area so preserving the original petrol tank etc. It can be emergency started on LPG but not recommended.

PS. I get 20l/100k on LPG in and out to Brisbane. It has better, more usable torque than petrol and is smoother than petrol.

Cannon - I have had the system in for about 4 years and roughly 80,000k. I have been very impressed by LPG. I like the low tanks cause the back is so high you dont lose much. I did a flat cover in the back for the tanks and on the sides (where the 3rd row of seats normally go for a 7 seat) I have hatches that open down to (original) floor level, so heaps of usable space still.

I'm having them installed as far to the right as possible, then building a 'false floor' with a drawer on the left.
good spot for recovery gear, tools etc
Revs is fine but the system I use allows petrol addition which is set by specifying rpm and injector-on time in the programming. I didn't use this option with the Land Rover V8's I have converted as they really didn't need it. All 3 I have done ran to peak revs without any petrol addition. Just keep in mind I did specify 0.6mm plug gap so the spark energy is enough to fire in all load conditions. You will use some petrol in the warm up phase, that is quite enough.:)Quote:

Never had a problem, not even a backfire, he does fit the metal filter just in case.

That's an awesome offer Big Guy & certainly tempting.
My only concern would be warranty fixes, bit of a hike to get filters serviced;)
