Remember when wanting more flex, inparticular on the rear axle, the watts linkage will eventually run out of travel and stop the flex, hence Rovertym do their modded one to allow even more flex.

Shock lengths are the real limiting factor as well, hence the longer the better.
I have never been able to find out for example how much longer the OME shocks are for a D2, but I assume by the fact that they are "bolt in" items and no mention of brake line or ABS extensions come with them (as far as I know), then they dont actually offer that much more travel. My terrafirma shocks for example are loads longer and did /do require brake line and ABS extensions.

mmm, not sure on that one tbh........the RRC is the same setup as a D1, and My d2 with ACE (before lift) flexed more than my friends D1 does.
Don't think you can tar "lifted D2's" all with the same brush tbh, because you can lift a car without changing the shocks and its the shock length that governs the axle drop........+ it will also depend on how "stiff" your lift springs are because it takes more force to compress the upward going spring.
My RRC is a '93 with EAS. The only addition is Bilsteins.

When looking for of the shelf shocks for the D2, most rated for a 2" lift appeared to be the same length as stock.
The longer Bilsteins I bought actually came out at 50mm longer than the standard units and along with the ACE I seem to get a fair amount of travel.
I believe for extra travel the watts linkage needs modification (as mentioned above) and possibly the upper and lower shock mounts need to be looked at. There will be a certain point where the standard shock geometry starts to work against itself on axle drop.
I have attached an older pic of mine. That is with Dobinson Extra Heavy Coils, Bilstein Extended Shocks.
With more weight in the car I can get more travel and I ran out of rock to climb.
Ironman springs front & rear with Ironman shocks front and ProComp rear.
Now I have Koni at the rear.
Rear droop is about the same as the front.
Brake lines and ABS cables are at at their extremes here.
