    Baz,

your a gentleman and thank you for the assistance. I appreciate it very much and hopefully this will get rid of the problem in the short term anyway.

It is a bit unusual having four lights come on though isn't it?

    cheers,
    Terry

No not uncommon to have 4 lights but not the handbrake light the 3 amigoes are common and if you do have 4 lights it's usually the M & S lights that accompany the 3 amigoes.

We have never done a V8 with our Nanocom, I'm wondering if we need anything to read the V8, Pedro do you know??

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

Here's what I have learned. I have a dodgey front LH wheel speed sensor (intermittant signal fault ... probably a broken/intermittant wire). When it triggers the 3 Amigo's, I get the three lights ... stop & restart the car, and it clears the fault.

When the 4 Amigo's visit, I cannot clear the fault with a stop/restart ... requires the Nanocom ... and the fault shows as logged 254 times ... when I get the 3 Amigo's fault, the Nanocom shows no stored failures.

So it appears to me, that it doesn't become a HARD logged fault until there's been 254 SOFT faults registered (ie:254 times to get from 3 Amigo's to 4 Amigo's, which then requires a SLABS reset with the Nanocom).

I *think* the handbrake may be a seperate issue,,,
That wont work with the four Amigo's, I tried it.
Worn front disc's set off my four amigos, I don't how but it did.
I replaced disc's and pads front and back, tried the reset to no avail.
I even checked the switch on the hand brake which was fine.
It was not untill I hooked up the Nanocom and cleared a wheel sensor fault (my brakes used to squeal) that all four amigo's departed and have not returned since.
    Hope this helps, cheers Lionel.

But as it is only a couple of days before I head of on holidays like everyone else this is a bit of a issue as we are going to be towing the camper trailer with the wife driving the D2 instead of me. So this couldn't have come at a less optune moment and finding a mechanic with spare time to check things out is looking near on impossible, so any assistance would be appreciated.

First off I don't have three lights on I have four, the usual three suspects plus the hand brake red light. Given that this one more light then usual is this something more easilly diagnosed?

I have read all I can on here about the three amigos but there isn't much about four lights staying on.

In case it makes a difference the Disco is a 2003 V8 HSE

As I've said any assistance would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Terry
    Hi Terry,

If you look back a page you will see my post "Bloody 3 Amigos Again"
LR Stealer reset SLABS ECU but I declined their $1800 shuttle valve assy replacement.
We took camper trailer away last weekend & 3 Amigos reappeared after we arrived at campground. I was a bit concerned driving back in rain, but braking seemed normal. I deliberately did a panic stop to see how vehicle behaved & I could feel pedal modulating. It appears that even when fault lights appear that ABS is still functional, at least partially. Can anyone confirm this? What about Traction Control?
I have ordered a Shuttle Valve Switch & seal upgrade kit from Falconworks -www.jewellamberoil.com in USA. Cost $119.78 plus $34 express Int post.
This is complete SVS assembly & includes seals to prevent hydraulic fluid leaking into switches and destroying them.
Virgin Islands LR site ABS Mod - Land Rover Club V.I. has a very good tutorial on how to replace SVS without even disconnecting brake lines. Good luck with your Disco.
    Cheers..B

if its the parkbrake light and the 3 amigos thats your usual 3 amigos with the adition of a bad parkbrake switch or adjustment.

If its the brake warning light its the 3 amigos and either a brake pad warning light (cant remember if they're fitted on the D2 or not), the fluid level sensor or the brake proportioning warning light..

all are bad but easily inspected for and usually easily rectified. The 3 amigos thats your call plug in a nanocom and interrogate.
