I think this is the symptom of low oil. This will need to be confirmed by some one in the know.
No dip stick on the trans only a plug.
Check your cooling pipes for leaks as I have heard of them rubbing through (near the radiator?).
Hi Guys,
I've got a bit of a problem and I'm hoping that some of you can tell me the likely cause of it. The vehicle is a 2001 TD/5 with 141,000 on the clock and is due to go in for service in a couple of weeks.
This afternoon the tranny seemed to be slipping, I'd rev and it would just go nowhere. This was happening in D and 3. Slipping it in to 1st was fine as was 2nd, but once in 3rd it started slipping again. Turning the engine off and waiting for a couple of minutes cured the problem until the tranny kicks up a gear when the slipping / engine revving (foot on accelerator) started over.
Any ideas? Suggestions?

low/cooked oil with potentially failing clutches or blocked hyds galleries
if its not the clutches giving you the warning signs of neglect it should come good with proper flushing and replacement fluid.

Thanks for the replies guys,
It's just as well she's booked in for a service, will get them to do the tranny while she's in. Will top it up in the morning.
Many thanks!
