    Broken front shock/spring towers

Just something for that you may want to look out for on Disco's that have done a lot of offroad work. Mine (00 model) has done 2 trips across the nullabor and was used as a weekend camping vehicle but has only got 140000km on it. Glad I paid bugger all for it!
I've had this slight rattle/knock in my D2 for about 3 weeks. It sounded like a loose exhaust so was looking at it to start with, found the flex joint was blown out so got it fixed last friday.
The noise was still there so I've been under the car trying to find it the last couple of evenings and found it tonight.
The shock/spring tower on the passenger side has cracked off the chassis, not completely but enough for the top eye of the shock to be just touching the intercooler pipe intermittently. The spring is bowed with the inside rubbing on the shock.
I have some pics on my phone but can't get them on the 'puter for some reason so I'll take some with my camera tomorrow night.

I'm not that fazed by this as I've had it happen before to my old 84 4skinner after doing jumps in it. we'll just pull it back straight and weld it up like we did on the 4runner. Just thought I'd post this as another thing we have to look out for.

I've only seen that happen on one other D2, a car owned by one of the bigger tour companies that had seen Australia a few times over.

I think he had the O/S/F go though.

I've seen a 2003 do the LHF, by the looks of it was poor welding that started the process

Will be all fixed on Saturday for a case of beer by one of the boiler makers at work.
