Its ok I sprayed the nut and thread with some penetrate and freed it up, have adjusted it about 1 1/4 turns and haven't seen to much improvement but have noticed the car did drive up the driveway without any throttle and could hear the turbo spooling so that will do for now..

How do I adjust the nut without breaking the plastic tail that fitted to the turbo end..Is it just that the nut has seized cause it hasn't been moved in 9 yrs or is there some secret..

Im sure im going to regret looking this stupid, but the response from SWMBO will be far worse than anything on here if I break it..

Once you loosen the locking nut, (10mm open end spanner)you just turn the knurled nut inside the plastic tail, the tail doesn't move, make sure you mark the knurled nut so you know how many turns you make

Thanks Baz,I used the nut as the guide to how many turns as I couldn't turn the knurled nut by hand..

What happens if I go to far?

    Thanks again.

You will get a loss of power when the ecu senses an over boost situation and cuts fuel, a self protection mode or limp mode.

Once this happens, reset the ECU (turn motor off and the restart it again)back the knurled nut off 1/4 of a turn, then go for a drive again, repeat until it stops going into limp mode.

I'm pretty sure 2 full turns will be fine, I'm up to 3 1/2 turns.

I used a pair of needle nosed pliers to turn the knurled nut.

Does a manual have the ability to go into limp mode..

Just wondering if I should keep turning the nut until it kicks in or just be happy with the adjustment I have made..

Yes it sends the engine into limp mode, it reduces fuel to the injectors, it will feel like you haven't got a turbo.

Has it improved it any with the amount of turns you have done??

    Baz,

Its hard to say, as I fitted a new rad and D2a I/C over the weekend and I think that improved it quite alot, but SWMBO drives it daily and she doesnt seem to notice any change, but she didnt when I changed the ECU, so who knows.

I will move it some more but I think it improved a little, will try another 1/2 turn..

    Cheers Ean
