When I was living in Alice Springs an Ikea shopping trip in Adelaide required the purchase of an 8x5 trailer to get the goodies home!
None. Here in Tasmania. But...on the 21st of this month I fly into Melbourne to pick up our new (to us) 02 D2 TD5. So after an early morning red eye, a bus and a train to Frankston, pick up the car then on to IKEA and load up, must be time for a coffee (beer?) then off to the Spirit of Tas and back across the straight leaving at 7pm(phew).
My question for you all is:
How much IKEA fancies can I fit in the Discovery with all the seats down.
Would anyone be kind enough to give me (or point me to) the interior dimensions with all rear seats folded up (our new love is a seven seater). IKEA provides the dimensions of its boxed items on the website so I should be good from there. MMMMmmm SLS test one!
Thanks in advance...
Stu

On a US site and converted to metric: The following figures are supposedly with seats in folded position.
Length: 1340mm (134cm or 1.34m)
Width: 1100mm (110cm or 1.1m)
Height: 1040mm (104cm or 1.04m).
Would anyone be kind enough to check this for me? or will I have to accost an innocent discovery owner in a carpark with supercheap tape-measure. The blood is on your hands....

tasmania has some of the best wood in the world for makeing furniture with, why are you buying cheap stuff from overseas
You are very right Richard. But while my wife and I are active supporters of the Tasmanian Arts and Fine Furniture industries, we are unable to afford to have the entire house filled with salvaged Huon Pine.
The Scandinavians are actually quite good forest managers (compared to much of Tassie) and IKEA stuff has far more design input (and durability testing) then you would get at 'fantastic furniture' or Harvey Norman etc etc for which "cheap stuff" we pay a ridiculous premium here in Tassie on the largely trumped up grounds of 'shipping costs'.
So, does that mean you cannot answer my question???![]()
I had to use my roof rack...not helpful I know,

I can tell you from experience that their tall bookcases will not fit in a Disco.
From memory, they are close on 2m tall, but only about 400mm wide.
Cost me $70 for delivery![]()
