D2 headlight upgrade
So I'm thinking of doing the D2a headlight upgrade to my 1999 D2. I've read all about it now, so I think I know whats involved. Only thing now, I need the headlights. Can anyone suggest a good place to buy them? Naturally I'll be looking on ebay, but if anyone has any other suggests I'd appreciate it!

There are several large Land Rover wreckers in the US that are on ebay. Some of their prices are good, others not. I haven't tried them yet, but they seem to have everything.

careful getting lights from usa, they drive on the oposite side of the road so low beam flicks to the right instead of the left. Is an issue with round sealed beams. Could be an expensive mistake.

Of course it's "each to their own" but personally I wouldn't bother. If it doesnt have the D2a grill, bumper, fog lights, etc it will be an obvious attempt to try and make something into what it isn't. The headlights in the D2a are nothing to rave about in terms of functionality in standard form. I'm not sure what the pre D2a headlights work like but the D2a ones are nothing special.

Go direct to uk..even ebay uk.. there are plenty of L/R wreckers suppliers and you will get them to suit the cars that are sent to Aust..
I haven't done it but have looked into it and they are far more options that way..

Thanks all for letting me know where I can find the lights. I will give it a shot. I want to do the upgrade because I think it looks better. I'm not attempting to be a wannabe, I care not for a D2a. Moreover, I don't really care what anyone else thinks, especially when probably less than 1 in 1000 people will even notice the fact that I don't have D2a grill, bumper, fog lights! After all, I have to be happy with my car, not someone elses!

If you have a bullbar, you can ditch the fog lights convertion and obviously the bumper. Do the rear lights too I think, then no one will ever know you've done the converstion. I am also keen to do this conversion, already have one light, just need one more for the RHS, then its just a case of sorting out the wiring and cutting the bulkhead a little.

Each to their own on this conversion and I can understand why people do it, but for me the Facelift headlights steam up far to much and that would annoy me!!!...........

If it's only the performance of the lights you're trying to address, the easier option by far is to simply put a HID conversion kit into the existing lights.
It's a pretty simple job that justabout anyone handy with a few basic tools can do, and the result is well worth the effort.
Yes - some will tell you that it's illegal, but I've had mine converted for more than 2 years now, and have driven it locally in Kal, on the highway and down to Perth many times, with a lot of night travelling. I have never even been looked at twice by the boys in blue, nor have I been "flashed" by oncoming traffic. It's simply a matter of putting a bit of effort into setting them up properly at the start, and ensuring that they do not point into the eyes of oncoming traffic.
Cheers .........
