I have got the Hella Rallye 4000 HID's - 2 x pencil beams. Absolutely unbelievable - haven’t found a road long enough to out reach the lights.
My 4000s are both spread beams. I have Bull 220s on top the bar for long distance work.
As far as light shape is concerned I think round is always the only way to go. Driving or spot lights are supposed to give the best possible light and a round light is the only one which will do that.
A square or rectangular light cuts corners off the reflector, limiting the light output.
Here are my IPF's on my D2's arb. They are alright and fit perfectly but i would like to get some 240 XGT light forces in there for some extra light!

Do the really big lights block the airflow?
Jeff
:rocket:
What a great question Jeff,,
surely they must?!?,,
I'm still of the opinion most new LR's require no outside airflow,, the fan and thermostat make outside air irrelevent,
am happy to be shot down,,,
but if you block the rad airflow with lights,,
(go look at the pics of D2 thread--)
and the car doesnt overheat,,
what other conclusion can you draw???
easy enough to dis/prove,,
just add a couple of ribbons around the lights,,
drive along side and take pics,,
