New 2010 Bumper for D2

the bumper has its own mounts, and it is worlds stronger than ARB.... however ARB is one of the many bumpers I have seen that was all deformed from a side pull... and if you read what ARB says, they advise against the side pull as well... and yes ARB mounts are designed with a crumple zone... these are not... the crumple zone I am referring to is on the frame itself...


EDIT>>> I saw the photos, and it still have the shackle mounts below that are verticle... those horontal ones look like crap and also look they would break off if stressed

My last post has pics of a proper recovery point (swivel).... SO you have your pics...

The D2 chassis has no deformation points on it.... They are bolted infront of it... I even ducked out to the car park here to double check!

Mounting solid to the chassis is not legal in Australia, and will have side effects on crash pulse with the SRS system.

Regardless, its still an ugly looking bar!

I totally agree here, it looks bloody terrible! What is the point of having 3 xgt's anyway? It's not like the two of them don't make enough light and 3 just looks uneven and stupid. It's actually illegal here in QLD to have an un even amount of lights on the front of your car...

i did see the pics and i edited my last post... and I am aware of the legalities there in OZ, but we dont have those here in the states... anything I have sold in the past, I made sure people knew what I was selling them, and none of the cared about the legal aspect as they said no one enforces it unless you are in an accident that someone is injured...

as for the bar options... there are 5 style available... this is just the heavy duty version... there are sportier and less bulky bars....

now on to the light aspect... I like lights... i like to see everything in front of me... yes you can run it with only two... you can run it with none... my personal rig has 4 of the HID 140 lights and 8 of the HID XGT lights in the front... not to mention the four HID 170's in the rear of the truck... you can never have too much lights

Well again guys I just wanted to see what you think. Its a new look for the D2 some will like it some will hate it. But it gives you alot to pick from when looking for an off road bumper. I will have it on my Discovery 2 this spring and I will post pictures to show you. If you want closer up pics or some of the winch box ill be happy to show you. Thanks for the input and help.

C'mon guys this is a bit harsh, there has obviously been a lot of work put into this bar, and you can see a lot of time has been spent on it. Now he has even been kind enough to share with us his handywork. I make most of my own barwork etc, and I know how much effort one has to go through to make something.
How about some positive critism?

Thank You... yes there is a lot of time in engineering a bumper... we are trying to break new ground and new markets right now since we have most everything else covered... we have the Navaro from nissan now, the jeep JK, and we will have the hilux pretty soon too... its a little difficult to get some of these vehicles here in the states though... but we do what we can...

My opinion was simply my opinion, of course you guys are going to have people who are going buy it, but you can't expect for there not to be any bad feedback at all. I do like the bar that doesn't have the upper bar work, the slimmer one, i'll give you that.

Look at the specs, you break one of them in a normal 4WD recovery, I'll buy you a case.

Deformation from a side pull is possible but I really don't like those bolt on points. Designed not for this in many ways and if you had any comeback of warranty would the warrant them (or damage caused by failure of) when used in this application?

I prefer the hanging vertical system as applied here, but only when using bow shackles as displayed in the first images which can be loaded (the shackle) angularly. I would also use in conjunction with these a sling or chain to triangulate the winch line back to both points. Putting the load on the bar from the two shackles into some compression across the bar, using the strength of the bar to support the cassis/cans/whatever against potential side-load deformation.

Just a thought
